Assholes and Idiots Are Killing Us
Stop giving power to ignoramuses and assholes Written by Mike Meyer ~ Honolulu October 7th 2022 As long as we recognize our limitations, there is nothing wrong with being dumb as a stump. We all have our weak points. Even if weak points are all that we have, recognizing that is an indication of one important strong point. Ignorance, the primary cause of people acting like idiots, is correctable. Assholes are another matter. I define assholes as manipulators with little or no regard for their effect on others’ well-being. These range from minor assholes to genocide-level assholes. Minor assholes may be trainable or have latent moral awareness that will cause them to rethink their asshole nature. Assholes thrive on ignorance, so listening to an asshole will not correct ignorance. Denial of reality is the primary sign of a major asshole. Select who you listen to very carefully. If someone is saying things that match your thinking perfectly, they are probably ignorant, an idiot, and an asshole. You should either reject or reserve judgment on what they say if they have no formal credentials or personal experience in a professional, technical, or scientific area. If in doubt, look elsewhere for information to confirm what was said. Current politicians in the American multi-national military empire have no credentials or valid experience, even if they once had such. You should assume them to be assholes and idiots unless there is massive, independent, individual evidence to the contrary. A major factor now is the critical mass of assholes and idiots in positions of authority, triggering an intellectual loss of knowledge and logical ability from the population in general. This condition reinforces itself moving people from asshole idiocy to gibbering asshole idiocy, creating closed communities that become completely disconnected from reality. The rise of stupidity exacerbating assholeness and idiocy is beginning to appear in the national media. The level of stupidity is already breathtaking, and this has only begun to be recognized. A major problem is the placement of dumb-as-a-stump people as lackeys in judgeships that was known but ignored until it was too late to prevent. As stated above, there is nothing inherently wrong with being slow and a few of these people always find their way into positions of authority, but the volume now is disastrous. This has already become a vicious feedback loop facilitating political collapse and migration. While the American mass media ignore this, it is a growing cause of a form of refugees in the previously rich nations. These are still the well-off refugees who can afford to transfer to less politically dangerous regions, unlike the full-climate refugees seeking anywhere with a better chance of survival. Ironically maintaining the illusion of a career and lifestyle move tends to put these people in greater danger from direct climate-related disasters. The more diverse and progressive communities are urban and on the coasts. Not a good place to be without careful thought. This is more obvious every month. Our choices narrow to living under fascist asshole oppression, climate risk, or both. Florida is a prime example of this convergence. The growing calls to abandon much of Florida are a result and probably a good idea. It is a large state to abandon, but what else can be done? We are all at risk of becoming sequential refugees as climate disasters and socio-political collapse accelerate. Our world is changing quickly, and we have little time to correct massive climate mistakes. Sadly, I don’t expect anyone alive now, except, perhaps, the very youngest, to see improvement. We all need to think very carefully about that reality. We must unite to survive, but the deluge of bad information from assholes and idiots is always a problem but is now deadly as our options narrow. As a product of terminally predatory capitalism, our media continues to ignore or minimize reality, as there is no solution beyond the deconstruction of our planetary economic system. And that is not allowed by the billionaire elite that has amassed all political authority. Talk of circular economies may be a factor down the road, but it will not move quickly enough to prevent the disaster likely to trigger decades of misery. The same is true of the hoped-for technical solutions to atmospheric carbon and global temperature rise that is too late to stop or even slow down. The political collapse may well destroy us by accelerating the natural disasters we could survive before we can do anything about them now. Putting this in the real world is not tackling individual disasters, the resulting hyperconverged disasters, or the hyperobjects we cannot even understand, but being focused on getting rid of the assholes and idiots who are the root cause of this cataclysm.
