- ALL the capitals should be managed for optimum progress and performance,
- Mostly, the focus is on economic performance, and mostly the financial performance for the benefit of the investor class,
- The social dimension of progress and performance is mainly ignored,
- So also the environmental dimension of progress and performance is ignored, but
- Technological progress has been used to increase profit performance though not so much to improve social and environmental impacts.

What benefits do actors get from the SDGs?
How must actors be engaged?
|
- Actors must act to achieve progress towards the SDGs,
- Actors must be motivated to do things in support of SDGs,
- There must be universal accountability for impact of actors on SDGs,
- Everyone can be ... must be ... engaged, and
- Everyone must get benefit from activities that accelerate SDG progress.

|
The Individual ... very young children
A good start to life has lifetime value
There is no doubt that optimising support for very young children should be a high priority, with mothers playing a big role.
The socio-enviro-economic system as a whole should be capable to provide all the support needed to make this happen.
The metrics should enable progress and performance related to very young children to be accounted for.

|
The Individual ... school age children
A good education has lifetime value as well
A good education is not only about academics but should also involve sports and music and teamwork. Education should not only serve children with intellectual ability, but those who do not learn easily.
A good education should also enable a lifetime of valuable learning.

|
The Individual ... young adults
Accumulating the building blocks for a good lifetime.
Higher education, practical training and early career experience are all possible building blocks
There should be many pathways to success ... and many ways to learn what needs to be known.
While individuals need to do what is good for 'me', it is also essential to give space for what is good for 'we'. Bigger and better things are more often done by 'we' than by 'me'.

The Individual ... post career / retirement
Retirement is OK as long as health is good
More and more people in rich countries are living longer and are in a position to enjoy life during retirement
The vast pool of knowledge that older people have accumulated is not used very much, and certainly not in an efficient systematic way.
At the same time there are more than is good of this group who cling on to power and perpetuate ideas and practices that have become 'sub-optimal' to be kind!

|
|
The Individual ... old age / declining health / dependence
This group is a getting bigger as people live longer ... but not healthier
