FACTORY FARMS Corporations like Tyson and Smithfield are putting small family-owned farms out of business ![]() Peter Burgess COMMENTARY So called 'factory farms' are problematic for many different reasons ... some of which are articulted below. This message does not reference the danger that could come from development of antibiotic resistance in all sorts of places in the modern economy. It has been reported that factory farms routinely use antibiotics to prevent disease rather than merely to cure specific cases of disease ... a practice that will shorten the time it takes to get to a situation of widespread antibiotic resistance. It's all about profit now ... very little about the future. Peter Burgess | |||||||||
URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Factory farms are polluting our environment and subjecting animals to intolerable cruelty!
Friends of the Earth Sun, Jun 19, 9:39 PM (10 hours ago) Animals on factory farms often live their entire lives crammed in unsanitary conditions without ever seeing the light of day -- all so that mega meat corporations like Tyson and Smithfield can maximize their profits. As a result, these facilities are breeding zones for bacteria and diseases that endanger public health. We MUST demand that Congress STOP supporting this dangerous industry immediately >> SIGN THE PETITION NOW Factory farms not only harm animals and put our food supply at risk, but they are harming the livelihoods of local communities. Corporations like Tyson and Smithfield are putting small family-owned farms out of business who cannot compete with massive factory farms. Moreover, factory farms are often located in low-wealth Black and brown communities where they pollute the air and water, threaten wildlife habitats, and are a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Peter, will you please add your name right now to help protect against the damage done by the factory farming industry? Thanks for helping to protect communities, animals, and our environment.
