There probably will be nationwide rail strike in about 3 weeks. The engineers union had a spokesman on a podcast I heard last week. They have been working without a contract for over a year, and the railroad companies stopping hiring about 5years ago, so now the railroad workers are understaffed by about 20%. As a result, they are working 50 to 70 hours a week and are very stressed out. If you were to watch a freight train pass by today, you will see something like 180 cars in a 2+ mile long train. All of that driven by only 2 people, and it looks like the railroad companies are trying to cut that staffing level down to 1.
