BASIC INCOME
Financial income is an important component of quality of life (though by no means the only one). Structural changes in the workings of the economic system means that the historic correlation between jobs and sufficient income are being disrupted with many undesirable social consequences. The idea of a basic income (also referred to as guaranteed basic income, universal basic income, etc) has been proposed, but the question of how it can be financed has not been resolved.

Every year, the President of the United States gives a speach in Congress on the STATE of the UNION. It is a report on the STATE of everything in the nation, that is ALL of the CAPITAL of the nation. This report is a lot more than just a financial report, it is a report about the state of everything that is important for the nation. Interestingly, measuring STATE at a point in time is much easier than measuring performance which is always moving and very much more complicated. Better yet, it is possible to measure PROGRESS over a period of time simply by comparing STATE at the beginning of the period (BoP) with the STATE at the end of the period (EoP).

In my experience there are many very nice people on this planet ... many who have a very different background and life experience to my own ... who would welcome a better quality of life and be very grateful for it.
There is also amazing technology, very little of which is being used to make the world a better place.
When nice people are anabled to have a better quality of life using amazing modern technology, the world can be a far better place.
But this requires a change in thinking by many of those that currently have control of both money and politics.
Progress is possible ... but it will take perseverance.
